The GGI Kwema Program
The KWEMA project is Mastercard foundation sponsored project with the goal of transitioning girls to secondary school. This project aims to create safe spaces for girls in schools by adressing the issues that prevent girls from accessing education such as menstrual poverty, child marriage, teen pregnancy and self-awareness. We hold school sessions in 5 schools in Vanga ward, community awareness sessions, and policy dialogue sessions to create a community of changemakers. The project has been ongoing for a year now in Mwalewa primary school, Tsuini Primary school, Jego Primary school, Kiwegu primary school and Ngathini primary school. In these schools, we hold bi-monthly school sessions on menstrual health management, teenage pregnancy, self-awareness and literacy sessions. We also hold annual
scholarship sessions in both schools to connect girls to funding opportunities that will enable their secondary school education.
